Does this include ceiling paint?+
Yes — the calculation includes wall area (perimeter × height) plus ceiling area (length × width). If you're not painting the ceiling, subtract roughly 20% from the total.
What about primer?+
Primer covers at a different rate (~200–300 sq ft/gal). This estimate covers finish paint only. For heavily patched walls or drastic color changes, add a separate primer coat.
How much does paint actually cost?+
We estimate ~$40/gal for mid-range interior paint. Premium brands can run $60–$80/gal, and economy paint can be as low as $20/gal. Adjust the per-gallon figure in your head accordingly.
